HP Will recall 6 million laptop power cables because of fire risk
HP recalls over 6 million LS-15 AC power cords in the US and Canada because of fire and burn risks. HP and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that there have been reports of minor burns and property damage because of overheating and melting of the power cord.
Consumers are also been advised to check the power cables of their HP and Compaq laptops if the power cables are heating up.
US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement that "Customers should immediately stop using and unplug the recalled power cords and contact Hewlett-Packard to order a free replacement."
The affected power cords are for HP and Compaq laptops that were sold worldwide with their notebook and mini notebook laptops between September 2010 and June 2012.
If you own one please contact HP Customer Care 1-877-219-6676 or go to HP website to have it replaced immediately.
