LG Roll-able 18 inches OLED display
LG a South Korean display panel maker has presented their very innovative prototype of a transparent OLED display screen that looks like a plastic sheet that can be rolled up and is very flexible. The 18-inch flexible display can be used for future flexible TVs. It has a resolution of 1200x810 pixels. However, the images on this screen is not as crisp as the latest flat displays with ultra-high definition technology.
According to LG, the display is made of high molecular substance-based polyimide film which gives it its flexibility characteristics instead of using plastic.
Another panel is transparent, and LG brag about a remarkable reduction in hazy images and up to 30% increase in transmittance, which is responsible for the screen's transparent effect.
The R&D Vice President of LG said that they are very confident that they will successfully develop an Ultra HD flexible and transparent OLED TV by 2017.
